I love finding Persian food that feels both comforting and new to me. Noush does that with a fully plant-based menu.
When I’m in Sants, this is the kind of place I want to settle into for a while. The cooking draws on Persian herbs, grains, fruit and vegetables, and the menu gives me a chance to try dishes I don’t see everywhere. There’s also a sunny garden terrace for those days when lunch can take its time.
The first dish I’d order is Herbed Rice with Vegambas. The Persian herb rice comes with garlicky vegan shrimp and a tangy tamarind sauce. I’d get the Eggplant Tomato Stew (Ghooreh Bademjan) too, with its slow-cooked aubergine, tomato, onion and sour grapes, served with saffron rice. Those are my two picks for a meal full of warm, herby flavors.
I like that Noush puts lesser-known Persian dishes on the table and makes the whole place feel easy to enjoy. It’s going on my list for the next time I’m around Sants.
